Jik - Sunrise
- Tarisse King
- Acrylic on Belgian Linen
- Top End
The ‘Jik’ story is inspired by arguable the most significant iconic shape in all cultures, that is the circle; with nature’s greatest circle being the sun. Tarisse remembers her father, the late William King Jungala, telling her stories about the Sun the “life giver to all”. William says, ‘The sun sings its own song, dances through the sky. Endless in its celebration, it warms me to the soul and reminds me of my ancient connection to it and all things around me’.
Tarisse paints many suns remembering all the beautiful sun rises and sunsets she has witnessed but also paying homage to her Ancestors imagining all the sunsets during their lifetimes and the connection they felt on a daily basis.
In all of her artworks, Tarisse creates a contemporary representation of her ancient heritage, this painting depicts sunrise dreaming and is a powerful representation. This new style of Tarisse Kings shows the development of her artistic career.
Painting comes with Certificate of Authenticity.
